Of course, drilling, dampened walls, old bricks, renovation, and anything in your home could accumulate brick dust on your carpets. The worst case is when brick dust turns into a discolored stain or red clay mud spot on the carpet.

I ran into the same situation when I drilled a few holes in the wall right above on a brand new light-colored carpet. Yes! I tried vacuuming and brushing on the spot. But it got worsened leaving a pinkish stain on the carpeting surface.

Unlike other carpet cleaning methods, I was skeptical to rush into stain removers to remove dust and soiling. Because I thought the small particles or grit of dust would get more grounded on the carpeting surface by wet conditions.

However, here is the miracle carpet cleaner that saved my carpet from being replaced by another. Dr. Beckmon carpet stain remover! It will definitely clean stubborn dust and dirt out of your carpet that couldn’t get done by your vacuum.

However, I will share first to do things and tips before rinsing out the dust using stain removal. Because it might worsen the stain’s spot by spreading into a larger area as grit tend to be ground by agitation or moisture.

Brick dust is fine particles that may lay down in between tiny nylon fibers of the carpets. So you need to remove dust and dirt particles first as much as you can. Here are a few steps to achieve an effective cleaning job.

Steps to cleaning brick dust from the affected area of carpeting

Step 1 – Using a vacuum

My first step was to find out vacuum cleaners that effectively remove dust and soil from carpets. I burrowed a shop vacuum with carpet attachment for a better cleaning process.

First, I made sure there was no dust in the vacuum cleaner. So, it helps to avoid stirring up more dust on the carpet than capturing and retaining the dust in the vacuum.

Then I used a vacuum with suction only for deep cleaning of the area with the red dust easily. This ensured the red brick dust particles didn’t spread out of the area and removed dirt without causing any damage to fiber.

Also, I could easily remove dust and soot as much as it was sufficient to get faded away. However, a vacuum itself doesn’t provide a great favor to get rid of dust builders completely.

Step 2 – Using a soft stiff-bristled brush

It’s not an easy task to clean small particles of brick dust stuck in between fibers. Because vacuum only does not help alone to get rid of this. So, you must use a soft stiff bristle brush on heavy stain spots particularly.

I rubbed the spot with a brush several times to almost loose dirt and dust. The importance of this step is to make the vacuum easier to free the carpet from dust.

Step 3 – Using DIY carpet cleaners

If you still see a pinkish spot like mine or got a red-colored mud clay spot by an accident, here’s a little trick that I used as a DIY carpet cleaner. However, I recommend you to keep this cleaning method as the last option throughout the course of removing brick dust.

Get one cup of water and one cup of white vinegar and mix it well. Add two tablespoons of baking soda powder to the mixture and give it a good shake.

Put the solution into a spray bottle. Spray the solution on the affected area in the room to make it more concentrated vinegar. Let it sit for at least 30 minutes and air dry.

Now you can apply a dish soap on the spot and start to scrub it with fabric if the spot is small. In case it’s not I recommend you use a steam cleaner to remove or clean the remaining residue out of the carpet flooring.

Because heat is the best way to lift or clean build up even pet stains or mold from carpeting surfaces along with smells.
